I think this was actually in the news, but it's just one of those things. If you put Mentoes into a bottle of Diet Coke, there will be a chemical reaction or something that will make the pop fountain very hard out the top of the bottle.
It's just one of those silly little experiments, but what's funny about the comic Malex linked to is you're (supposed to be) expecting some silly little chemical reaction.
...But that's not what happens.
